Christopher Steele, J.D., LL.M

Christopher is a Director of the Institute for Trust and Estate Planning, a research division of Bernstein Private Wealth Management located in the Atlanta office. He works with private clients and their advisors on wealth transfer strategies, focusing on tax-efficient wealth management and asset allocation decisions. Before joining Bernstein, Christopher was a partner at the Atlanta law firm of Menden Freiman, LLP, with a successful practice in the areas of in estate, tax, and business planning. Christopher was also previously a partner of the national law firm of Chamberlain, Hrdlicka, White, Williams, & Aughtry, and an associate with the regional law firm of James, Bates, Brannan, & Groover. While in private practice, Christopher guided clients through complex legal and financial matters specializing in drafting sophisticated estate planning documents, handling intricate estate administration issues, and advising on business succession strategies. His expertise extends to corporate structuring, mergers and acquisitions, and gift and tax planning. Christopher earned his Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Taxation from the University of Florida Levin College of Law and his Juris Doctor from Mercer University, Walter F. George School of Law, where he was recognized for his excellence in tax law and advocacy. His academic achievements include membership in the Order of the Barristers, the Georgia State Bar Taxation Award, the Bootle Inns of Court Leadership and Professionalism Award, and a Certificate in Advanced Legal Writing, Research, and Drafting. Christopher’s involvement in the larger Atlanta estate planning community includes his tenure as a current member and incoming officer of the Board of Directors for the Atlanta Estate Planning Council and his regular involvement with the Fiduciary Section of the State Bar of Georgia. Christopher has an Accredited Estate Planner® designation from the National Association of Estate Planners & Councils and earned a certificate in Negotiation and Leadership from the Harvard Program on Negotiation. Christopher, his wife, two kids, and dog live in Peachtree City, Georgia where he also serves in his church and the local Cub Scout pack. Christopher is a certified rescue scuba diver and a big supporter of the Atlanta Braves and the Georgia Bulldogs.
