Scott Wright
Scott Wright is a Senior Managing Director in J.S. Held’s Global Investigations practice. He has over 35 years of experience in the conduct of sophisticated geopolitical risk mitigation, business intelligence collection, investigative due diligence, counterterrorism, facilities and executive physical and technical security countermeasures, insider risk reduction and cyber threats. He is a tested and proven contingency crisis planner and manager, likewise skilled at negotiating complex issues with senior officials of both friendly and adversarial foreign governments. Prior to joining J.S. Held, Scott was a Senior Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Executive with years of experience in the Federal Government. Scott most recently focused on bolstering ties and advancing operational opportunities with the Private Sector, the U.S. Intelligence Community, and Law Enforcement Agencies. Prior to that assignment, Scott served as the Associate Deputy Director of CIA for Operations/Mission from February 2019 to October 2020. As the third in command of the Directorate of Operations (DO), Scott’s portfolio included oversight of global operations undertaken by thousands of officers with a broad focus on mission execution, foreign intelligence collection, covert action, and counterintelligence. In addition to senior leadership assignments in conflict zones abroad, Scott is a five time Chief (COS) and Deputy Chief of Station throughout the Middle East Region and Europe, concurrently holding the title of Director of National Intelligence Representative while serving as COS. During Washington and foreign field assignments, Scott engaged regularly with the U.S. inter-agency and policy makers on a broad range of consequential national security matters, especially on matters related to instability and hard target objectives and priorities. Scott led complex organizations with large, multicultural workforces in the thousands in a business with budgets in the billions and high-risk stakes. He developed and implemented strategies at all levels, addressing issues ranging from foreign intelligence collection to tradecraft evolution, strategic partnerships, talent/resources and technological innovation. Scott was promoted into the Senior Intelligence Service in 2012 and received numerous CIA commendations and exceptional performance awards for mission execution. He is proficient in Arabic. Scott also worked at the U.S. Secret Service New York City Field office. He obtained a BA in Criminal Justice from the City University of New York Baccalaureate Program.
