Sandy focuses her practice on domestic tax controversies for both individuals and entities, defending taxpayers in all aspects of the dispute process with the IRS and/or state tax authorities, including audits, appeals, tax court litigation, district court litigation, Court of Federal Claims litigation, and appeals in federal courts of appeal. Sandy has experience working with clients with domestic and international tax issues at all dispute levels, including audits/ examinations, appeals, collections, and Tax Court litigation. Her specific subject matter experience includes conservation easements, captive insurance, penalty abatement for a wide range of penalties, preparer fraud, Offshore Voluntary Disclosure Program (OVDP) and opt-outs, Streamlined Compliance, innocent spouse, reasonable compensation, worker classification, accumulated earnings, Controlled Foreign Corporation (CFC)/Passive Foreign Investment Company (PFIC) issues, transfer pricing, installment agreements, lien withdrawal/discharge, excise tax, employment tax, collections, estate tax, Private Letter Ruling requests, state tax issues, and more. Before joining Eversheds as partner in 2025, Sandy was a shareholder at another tax firm where she worked for nearly a decade.
