2020 Georgia Accounting Food Fight Will Be All Virtual
In recent weeks, we've received a lot of questions about The Georgia Accounting Food Fight and how the competition will progress in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. Many are asking "how can I best help?"
Great news - The Georgia Accounting Food will continue as planned! The VIRTUAL competition will take place as scheduled from August 10-21, 2020, and your support is more important now than ever.
Save the Date - Registration opens July 1!
Here are the main changes with this year’s all-virtual competition:
- No food donations - scoring will ONLY include points for $ donated and not for pounds donated
- No volunteering bonus point opportunity - not all food banks are accepting volunteers right now from the general public as they have the National Guard assisting
- Checks/ACH payments will still be accepted in addition to money raised online
This year, the Food Fight is using an online fundraising platform that makes raising money online for your food bank easier and more interactive than ever before. Even though your team is unable to volunteer at the food bank, host fundraising events, or operate food drives in your office, you can still make a HUGE impact through online fundraising.
As many of you know, there is an increased need for monetary donations during this trying time as the food banks respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. Many families who are typically food secure have been impacted by the economic effects of the outbreak, and families who were already struggling have experienced an even greater need.
For every $1 donated during The Georgia Accounting Food, the food banks, on average, can distribute $8 worth of groceries into the community.
Thank you for all that you do to support The Georgia Accounting Food and Georgia's food banks. We are extremely grateful for your engagement and support in these uncertain times and hope that you and your families stay safe and healthy.
