CPAs Advocate for Profession at State Capitol

GSCPA Members Gather for 5th Annual CPA Day at the Gold Dome

More than 100 members of The Georgia Society of CPAs (GSCPA) recently met at the state Capitol to share their thoughts on important issues facing the accounting profession with their elected officials.

CPA Day attendees enjoyed a networking breakfast followed by a legislative update. Georgia Senate Finance Chairman Judson Hill and House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Jay Powell were in attendance.

Sen. Judson Hill shared his insight on House Bill 742, an annual update to the Internal Revenue Code (IRC), and Senate Bill 280, a bill intended to cut the state income tax from the current six percent.

“CPA Day at the Gold Dome provides GSCPA members throughout the state the opportunity to act as legislative consultants and advocates for Georgia’s legislators,” GSCPA CEO Boyd Search said.

Each member of the Georgia CPA Caucus: Rep. David Knight, Rep. John Carson, Rep. Howard Mosby and Rep. David Wilkerson provided an update on key legislative issues.

Attendees also enjoyed a detailed presentation on fiscal notes and tax reform by Fiscal Research Center Senior Research Associate Bob Buschman.

The Georgia Society of CPAs is committed to serving as the voice of the CPA profession in Georgia as well as advocating for the interests of its members and the business community before legislative and regulatory bodies.
