GSCPA Hosts The 2024 Southeastern Accounting Show

 

The Georgia Society of CPAs hosted the 2024 Southeastern Accounting Show on Wednesday, August 21st and Thursday, August 22nd, 2024 with 400 members in attendance along with over 25 exhibitors and sponsors.

When asked why she attends SEAS, attendee Keimesha Green said, "I have a lot of different options of educational classes that I can attend in two days and I don't have to play catch up with CPE. I also enjoy meeting and networking with different people as well." 

Day one, Wednesday, August 21, 2024, started with an optional morning session Uncovering Deception: A Primer on Internal Investigations of Fraud, followed by a panel session on  AI Unveiled: Navigating Disruptions and Discovering Opportunities in the Accounting Profession. Breakout sessions throughout the day covered Governmental and Nonprofit A&A Updates, a 2024 update from the Department of Revenue, a ChatGPT Deep Dive, and How to Win from Within: Five Mindset Changes That Help Build Resilient and Incredible Teams.

The event provided invaluable insights into the latest trends, from the transformative role of AI in accounting to the implications of new regulatory standards. It was inspiring to see such a high level of engagement and commitment to continuous learning, ensuring that our members are well-equipped to navigate the future of the profession." said GSCPA's Director of Education and Training, Jennifer Maddox. 

Thursday, August 22nd, 2024, began with an optional morning session; Active Ethics: How Doing the Right Thing Helps Everyone. Day two's breakout sessions covered topics such as Counting the Cost: Navigating Cyber Threats in Accounting Firms, Expanded Worker Classification (Independent Contractor) Rules: Their Impact on Benefit Plans, Delegation, Feedback and Accountability: A Primer on Core Leadership Skills and Microsoft Copilot: Navigating the Future of Productivity. The Southeastern Accounting Show concluded with roundtable discussions on accounting, auditing, tax, business, and technology.

Throughout the event, attendees had the opportunity to attend sessions on technical topics, regulatory updates, and practical advice related to their respective fields in accounting and finance. The event provided a platform for networking, engaging with sponsors and exhibitors, and staying updated on the latest developments in the accounting profession.
