Member Monday: Emma Briggs
This week’s Member Monday features Emma Briggs! Emma attended Georgia State University where she obtained her bachelor’s degree in accounting and is currently pursuing her Master of Taxation. She is looking forward to graduating this year in December! This fall, she has recently started a position as a Tax Accountant at MST. While completing her undergrad in Accounting at GSU, she attended the career fairs held on campus and learned about different companies and internship opportunities they had to offer. Emma actually took part in two internships during 2021, one in the spring semester and one during the summer.
After completing her internship at MST, she was very thankful to have been offered a full-time position. During her time as an intern, she never felt uncomfortable asking for help, which, in her opinion, is very important when starting your career. She was able to learn so much in such a short amount of time and had such a positive experience. Everyone at the firm was very welcoming and made her feel like part of the team.
When asked what advice she would pass along to current accounting students, she said, “I think the best advice I could give to students who are currently finding their first job out of college would be to take part in a few internships in order find somewhere that’s the best fit for you and what you’re looking for in your career. Go into it with an open mind and don’t be afraid to ask questions.”
