Member Spotlight: Ashley Hawthorne
Ashley is a tax manager at Warren Averett and works on both the Atlanta Tax Team and their Estate & Trust Team. On the weekends she and her husband love to pack up the boat and take day trips to go fishing on the Florida coast, which is less than a couple hours from their home in Thomasville, GA. They have two dogs and a cat and their family will be growing this spring as they are expecting their first child! Outside of spending time with her family, she enjoys giving back to the community and is involved with a couple different teams at Warren Averett, including serving as an ATL office coordinator for firm’s participation with the United Way and GSCPA’s Accounting Food Fight initiatives. She also serves as the Treasurer of the House Board for Kappa Kappa Gamma’s Zeta Upsilon chapter.
Being a CPA means that everyday she gets to help someone achieve their financial goals- whether it is helping a business owner understand how a new tax law is going to affect their company or working with an individual to help create comprehensive estate plans to minimize the stress of their family after their passing. She has been a member of the GSCPA since she was a student affiliate while attending Georgia Southern. Over the last couple years she has had the opportunity to serve as a member of the Young CPA Advisory Council and she really enjoys getting to help younger professionals/students navigate the early years of their career. Her advice for anyone working to complete their CPA exam would be to focus on one day at a time and remember this is only a short season of your life that is going to pay off more than you can imagine as the CPA designation offers more career routes then you probably even realize right now!
The Member Monday series will highlight a different GSCPA member every other week. GSCPA is excited to introduce you to your fellow members and let you get to know a little more about them. Stayed tuned for the next Member Spotlight!
