Three Members from the Georgia Society of CPAs Selected to Attend AICPA’s 2022 Leadership Academy

 Three GSCPA members, Rodrick Perkins, Kendra LeFleur, and Miranda Coleman were of only 36 CPAs honored by the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) as members of the Leadership Academy’s 14th graduating class. They were selected based on their exceptional leadership skills and professional experience for the four-day Leadership Academy program, which will be held October 23-27th.

Roderick Perkins is the Chief Executive Officer of Life Audit LLC. He has an AS from Owens Community College, a BBA from University of Toledo, and a Master of Accounting from University of Michigan. Rodrick R Perkins gives all of his credit to El Shaddai: Jesus Christ, the Almighty God who saved him. Under God, Rodrick has learned to serve humbly, bringing harmony to those around our community and network of accounting professionals. With leadership, Rod founded Life Audit LLC. Rodrick is a visionary of accounting who has studied to master its intricate procedures. Upon graduating from the University of Michigan, completing his CPA requirements with Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, Rodrick joined the AICPA in 2019. He is noted for his continuous building of new skills such as python, C++, applied mathematics, and virtual leadership.

Kendra LeFleur is a Senior Manager at the firm Carr, Riggs & Ingram. She has more than ten years of experience providing financial statement audits, reviews and compilations for not-for-profit organizations and privately held corporations. Kendra serves clients in the manufacturing, distribution, retail, and professional services industries. However, her concentration is primarily with not-for-profit and association clients, several of which are single audit OMB Uniform Guidance. She attended school at Georgia State University, where she obtained a BBA in both Accounting and Managerial Sciences. She is honored to get to be part of the Black CPA Centennial and is proud to have been a recipient of the 40 Under 40 Black CPAs award in September of 2021. 

Miranda Coleman is an Assurance Manager at Windham Brannon, LLC with more than 10 years of professional accounting experience encompassing both internal corporate accounting and public accounting. Miranda studied at Georgia Southern University, where she earned her Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting, a minor in Fraud Examination, and her Master of Accountancy with a Forensic Accounting concentration. Miranda is also an active member of the National Association of Black Accountants, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants, Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, and the Women in Pensions Network.

The AICPA Leadership Academy was designed to strengthen and expand the leadership skills of promising young professionals while they network with a peer group of talented and motivated CPAs. 

The Leadership Academy features career-development workshops and sessions with some of the accounting profession’s most prominent influencers. Participants were selected from public accounting firms of all sizes, business and industry, government, and consulting firms. 

The 2022 Leadership Academy attendees were recommended by their employers, state CPA societies, and/or volunteer organizations. Candidates submitted resumes and a statement explaining how participating in the Leadership Academy would impact them personally and professionally. 

To date, more than 445 CPAs have participated in the AICPA Leadership Academy, many of whom have gone on to take on leadership positions in their firms, businesses, and volunteer organizations.
